Vineyard Cafe: Go, Films, Gypsy Jazz and Live Music
Once we were up and running, the café’s back room and courtyard hosted all sorts of evenings. These are the ones the blog kept.
A night with Hospital Records (November 2006)
The post about this one is lost, but the flyer survives:

The Vineyard Cafe Go Club (January 2007)
We are currently in the process of setting up a Go Club here at Vineyard Cafe, with a view to arranging training evenings for amateurs and professional players as well as the possibility of tournaments in the future. Go is a board game for two players that originated in ancient China before 2000BC. It is also called Weiqi in Chinese (圍棋,围棋), Igo in Japanese (囲碁), and Baduk in Korean (바둑).

Short films by Vanessa Arguedas (March 2007)
On this coming tuesday, and again the following tuesday, film maker Vanessa Arguedas will be visiting Vineyard Cafe to screen several of her short films. Starting at 8.30pm on both days, Vanessa will be here to present her films for your viewing pleasure. The films are all in French and English with English subtitles.

That spring we also held a wine tasting with Lorentz Klipfel.
Woodie Alan (July 2007)
On Saturday 14th July Woodie Alan will be visiting Vineyard Cafe to play a live acoustic set. Woodie Alan features Chinese guitarist and dobro master Woodie Wu and American singer/guitarist Alan Paul. Woodie Wu has been a fixture on the Beijing rock and blues scenes for over a decade, and Alan Paul was a senior writer and editor for Guitar World magazine for over 15 years. The Woodie Alan repertoire focuses on blues and American standard classics, as well as material by Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia, Buddy Holly and others.

Gypsy jazz with Daniel & Nico (from September 2007)
Visit Vineyard Cafe on the first Sunday of every month for live music from Daniel & Nico. For those of you who have missed them in the past, the guitarist duo specialize in classic gypsy jazz and have a fantastic sound, offering the perfect wind down after a long weekend. Although Daniel and Nico play in our courtyard, we wire them up to the restaurant sound system so their music can be heard throughout the restaurant.

More live music (February 2008)
The Magnificent JSB played, followed by Michel Hussmann, a French guitarist and singer.

Put together from the Vineyard Cafe blog's posts and flyers, November 2006 to February 2008. Vineyard Cafe was the restaurant I opened in a Beijing hutong in 2006 with Will and Xuduan; its blog is long gone, so I have brought it back here. See the whole Vineyard Cafe story.
